Course Outline
Seat Time: 1.5hrs
This course will discuss disaster prevention and mitigation planning. The learner will be presented with situations in which technology, power, or other power and information sources fail, as well as the impact such situations have. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:
- Implement preventative measures against computer crashes, power outages, and other emergency situations.
- Function as part of a team in the event of an emergency situation.
- Conduct tests of methods and understand documentation procedures.
Course Topics
T1 Technology and BCP: This topic will familiarize the learner with the impact that computer crashes can have on an organization and will provide ways to prevent computer crashes, in addition to definitions and purposes of hardware, software, and computer data.
T2 Power Outages and BCP: This topic will familiarize the learner with the types and causes of power outages along with ways to prepare for a power outage and procedures to follow during and after one.
T3 Pandemic Planning: This topic will define pandemic and will familiarize the learner with procedures for planning for a pandemic, including workforce, communications, and customer precautions that should be taken.
T4 Emergency Operations: This topic will define emergency operations and will provide the learner with the various functions that should be considered when developing team plans, including communications, evacuation, emergency services and information, and administration and logistics.
T5 Testing Methods: This topic will familiarize the learner with the various methods of testing and will provide examples, including structured walk-through tests, simulation tests, and full-scale tests.
T6 Execution and Documentation: This topic will address the processes and procedures, such as evaluation and reporting, that are involved in the execution and documentation stages of the BCP.
